So nice you could hook up with Phil and Joanne ... nice for all of you! And last-minute spots on the beach? Wowzers, you guys really lucked out. I checked Oceano C/G near Pismo the other day and was aghast at their camping prices now. Not many boondocking places down there, either. I will have to think of that one for a bit. And who is the convert? You? your friend? TreDuece? Does that mean the convert will make sure to get to the coasts??Sue Malonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00332448503740101970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6915357815051575646.post-60247710158825058292022-03-24T10:45:33.128-07:002022-03-24T10:45:33.128-07:00Yes, I cannot even begin to imagine having to live...Yes, I cannot even begin to imagine having to live in Southern California. I grew up in several towns there, but those towns are all together in one big place. Hard to know when you go from one to the other. Arcadia, Duarte, Azusa, Pasadena, Alta Dena, Sierra Madra, West Covina. If you didn't know it as you drive down the roads you would have no clue you were changing towns. I left the first time in 1963 and the last time in 1968. No need to ever return since relatives are now passed that lived there after I grew up. It ...Phil and Jo were really lucky with the Unity. It is not an inexpensive rig, and they looked for 3 months or so and found it through a dealer in their area. It is a 2016, but in nearly perfect condition with 25k miles on it or so. Barely looks like it has been used much. Everything worked well in the shakedown trip except for a couple of minor easily fixable glitches. Yes, I did have their information. And yes, at ReserveAmerica which does the reservations for Harris Beach, I was able to book two sites in our separate names but paid for both with my account and my profile info. No problem with that. Maybe Florida is different. The other advantage is that we were completely flexible. I searched for "next available" and took what I could get. I didn't have to worry about reservations before and after the visit to the beach for the four of us. The other detail I didn't write about fully is that a10 was for 2 nights and a7 was for only one night. Mo and I got lucky that we could get a site the next morning for the second night. And I don't think that the Oregon Coast during spring break is anything like Florida in winter. Sites are most often filled, but at the park this week several sites came open throughout the park for one night only. As I remember that is always an issue for you. You aren't often looking for just one night. So glad you enjoyed the post.Sue Malonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00332448503740101970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6915357815051575646.post-75318690117281568242022-03-24T10:35:52.396-07:002022-03-24T10:35:52.396-07:00I too get envious a bit when I see some of the thi...I too get envious a bit when I see some of the things people are doing. Still, I am doing stuff that I love, so why would I get envious of friends traveling the world, going on cruises, and doing a lot of hiking! Silly me! My high school friend Sandee is joining me in the desert today. You totally scored for a RV shake-down on the coast. Once again your magnificent photos call me to a beach. (Yet as TreDuece said, the ocean is like a different kind of desert.) You've made another convert. BTW, nothing wrong with slow and careful.Gaelynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05784162697113288888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6915357815051575646.post-79081591872271145342022-03-24T07:29:58.452-07:002022-03-24T07:29:58.452-07:00Your photos are gorgeous Sue!!! I have almost no friends from my growing up/high school days and I went to the same schools from first grade to graduation. I moved away from my hometown so long ago and my life changed--for the good.Janna and Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07591282756244454689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6915357815051575646.post-19048998163427731732022-03-24T05:34:29.420-07:002022-03-24T05:34:29.420-07:00What a lovely post about your long time friends an...What a lovely post about your long time friends and their 1st RV overnight with you seasoned travelers. You took wonderful pictures of the 2 of them, both under the tree and in the door of their rig.

I'm amazed that anyone can find an RV these days so I'm assuming they bought theirs new. What did they buy? How big is it? Your luck in finding campsites and extending is amazing. Two cancelations across from each other Is beyond my belief given the troubles I have with Florida state parks. I'm also very surprised that you could make 2 reservations Without one of the sites slipping away while you were reserving the other. You must have had all their information in order to make both since I couldn't imagine you could make both reservations in your name for the same dates. Although I just realized that you could do what David and I used to do and that is make one reservation in Mo's name and 1 in yours. Another one of the many advantages to being part of a couple rather than a solo.

Your pictures are really wonderful too and they just make me wish I had been with you. Such a beautiful beach, lovely campfire. Nice one of you and Mo and so sweet of Mattie and Joanne. I really enjoyed this post Sue and meeting your friends. I love it when everything works out so perfectly.
